A Blessing To Me
I feel compelled to share with everyone a very important event in my life which happens every year. Every year I am given the opportunity to participate in a wonderful Easter choir. One in which my great aunt wrote the narrative too. Through inspiration, she passed it on to a member of her ward and from there on, it grew in to an amazing performance.
It grew from a ward (church) choir to something much larger - complete with professional soloists, an orchestra and a professional actor who reads the narrative.
I love doing it and feel so grateful that we are given this opportunity ever year.
This year was exceptionally difficult because I was not feeling well. It almost didn't happen for me, but I stuck it out and with many prayers was able to perform. My heart is full and I must share with you the joy that fills my heart.
- Loves Greatest Gift
The singer who sings the part of Mary (Heather), flies in every year from Georgia. This year, when coming in to town strained her back to the point of unbearable pain. She went to the chiropractor and took some meds so that she was able to perform.
She almost didn't do it. We had a back-up singer, but she was determined to do it. You could hear the pain in her voice. She is an amazing woman. I was so proud of her.
We pulled it off this year, but they are thinking about not doing it next year because a lot of the people in the orchestra are moving away. With your prayers, I hope that this will not be the case and that this Cantata will go on for years to come.
Here is my personal tribute to that Easter choir -
Love's Greatest Gift.
I hope you enjoy! :D

Having Too Much Fun!
LOL
So, I'm having like...WAY too much fun on here!
This whole blogging thing has taken over my world! YIKES!
I just wanted to share some cool sites I've picked up. For one, there's BlogCatalog - which I am LOVING! I'm like addicted. I think there's a problem when you lose sleep and dream about something like this. LOL
Cool site! I've met some awesome people, seen some cool blogs, added to some cool discussions, and discovered some more amazing sites.
So yah - I've already established that I'm a music lover. I found this other site awhile back but never really explored it, but through some discussions on BlogCatalog, I rediscovered Pandora. It's freakin AWESOME!
It's a music lover's dream! : D
Hmmm...what else?
Technorati is pretty cool - in it's own way.
Feedburner is an excellent blogging tool!
Twitter is an interesting little site. It peeked my curiousity and I just had to check it out. So far, it's pretty cool. : D
What else?
Well...if I think of some more, I'll update my post. : )
Can't Help It!
Ok...so I can't help it!
I looove music! : )
I have to thank my very special friend for that. She is amazing. I met her during a very tumultuous time in my life and she was a beam of sunshine. She loves music just as much, if not more than I do, and she somehow unlocked that in me.
So yes, you will hear a lot about music. Probably much more than you care to hear, but...ah, who cares? lol
I LOVE IT!
As far as my musical background...not much really. I played the drums in seventh grade, but quit once my good friend decided to quit - which was stupid of me. I probably would of stayed if the music teacher hadn't thrown a Kleenex box at me and my friend.
*Sigh But oh well! lol
As of now - I love to sing! : D
I sang a lot when I was younger. I would always sing in the church and community choirs with all the old people. It was cute and kind of funny. I just hope I was as good as I thought. lol
How embarrasing would that be? : |
I'm singing in an Easter Choir which my great aunt wrote the narrative to (all original music). It is very awesome and I love doing it every year (this is my third year)! It is very professional! Professional singers, an orchestra, a professional actor that reads the narrative. Very, very nice!
The thing that sucks though is...
My throat is getting sore. I'm worried that it will get worse by this weekend. I hope I'm able to sing. I will be devastated! : (
Serious Blogging
Ok! Ok!
I'll do it!
I didn't want to, but...this is what blogging is all about.
I hate sharing my opinion, because I don't think it matters really, but this should be fun. If you haven't noticed by now, most of my content is videos, pictures, and free articles. But now...since I've joined a very cool community, I've caved. I'd rather write stuff that I like and care about, rather than share it with this community and waste my valuable effort and time on their site. I might as well get something worth while out of it.
Don't you think?
So yah! I plan on doing a lot of reviews and talking about art, music and books. Stuff that really interests me! If I get overly excited you can just leave (which I don't want you to). The point is, I can share as much as I want about what I want without worrying about administrators telling when enough is enough or to follow their strict rules.
I'm a free man! lol
I hope you enjoy! :D

How To Choose A Book To Read
How To Choose A Book To Read
By Scott Hughes
Whether you read often or only occasionally, when you go to read a book you first have the problem of choosing a book to read. Even the most avid reader could only read a tiny fraction of all the books that come out. At any given time, a book store probably contains many more books then you could read in your entire lifetime. How do you choose which books to read? Let me suggest a few ways to select a book.
Ask Friends - Ask friends, family members, and other people you know for recommendations. Friends work especially well for getting book recommendations, because they usually share the same interests as you. Also, friends know your personality well, so they can better guess what books you personally would like. Asking your friends for book recommendations will probably help your friendship also, because your friends will feel complimented that you want their opinion.
Authors You Like - Out of the books you have already read, try to think of your favorites. You can look at other books by the authors of your favorite books.
Bestseller List - Many newspapers publish lists of the currently best-selling books. If your newspaper does not have a bestseller list, you can also find bestseller lists on the internet or you can ask a book store clerk to see best-selling books.
Join A Book Club - Book clubs usually simply consist of a group of people who get together to choose a new book to read and discuss the book they previously chose to read. Most commonly, book clubs read one book per month. They usually do not cost anything, but the members may all put in some money for food and refreshments. Usually, the members of the book club take turns hosting. You can probably find a local book club by going on craigslist. Also, many public libraries have public book clubs.
Amazon - Amazon usually has ratings for books based on users who rate the book. It also has customer reviews of many books. When you view a book, it will show other books that you may like if you liked that book. That means you can get recommendations on Amazon by first finding some of your personal favorite books.
You can probably find other ways to help you select a book to read. If you want to try a certain book, you can avoiding losing money by simply borrowing the book from a library. If you do not like the book, you can stop reading it and return it.
Whatever you do, good luck and have fun!
Scott Hughes owns and and manages Online Book Club at OnlineBookClub.org and the Book and Reading Forums. You can use the forums to get book recommendations, and just to talk about books and reading. It's completely free to join and participate.

Incentive for Kids to Read
A Collection of Favorite Books Is a Great Incentive for Kids to Read
By Aldene Fredenburg
Helping your child develop his own collection of favorite books is a great way to encourage the habit of reading. While the many books your child gets to read in school or the local library are wonderful resources, nothing beats finding your kid curled up in a corner, entertaining himself with a much beloved book of his own.
Adults generally read a book once or perhaps twice if it's a really compelling book. Not so with kids; a child will read a favorite book, ten, twenty, or more times, becoming so familiar with the content that he can often quote large passages from the book. Take the Harry Potter books, for instance: kids have devoured the series, and can tell you every detail of every character and plot twist, and can tell you, with lots of energy and disapproval, how at least one of the movies departed from the original book.
Kids who read favorite books many times over are not only developing good reading habits, they are working to deepen their understanding of the content of each book. They are developing critical reading skills as they notice details and nuances in the second, third, or fourth reading that they may not have noticed in the first. And they are preparing themselves for the more demanding curriculum of upper grade levels, where a passage from a book may require more than one reading in order to properly absorb sometimes complex material.
Providing your child with a selection of fiction and nonfiction books covering his favorite subjects is perhaps the best thing you can do to keep him reading and to prepare him for future success in school and beyond.

Start Fresh
_ _ _ _ _
Start Fresh This New Year
By Dr. Noelle Nelson
The New Year is often depicted as a baby in diapers, usually wearing a top hat, unusual head gear for a baby perhaps, but there you have it--most definitely a baby. There's a reason for that. The New Year is a great time to start fresh, to start anew, like a baby staring wide-eyed at the marvelous world he or she is just discovering.
So yes, you've made your "start fresh" New Year's resolutions and that's great. You've committed to changing old worn-out habits and creating new beneficial ones. Now, take it one step further and "start fresh" with what already makes up your life. Marvel wide-eyed at the incredible world you live in. Not just at the sheer physical beauty of our planet and the universe we inhabit, but at the people, experiences and situations of your life.
For example, look at your family with new eye. What fascinates, uplifts and inspires you about your spouse? Before you say "I wish!" be still inside and really look at your mate. Leave aside your criticisms, dissatisfactions and frustrations for now, and look at him or her as if you were just discovering them. What do you find that delights you? What do you see that you could admire? What about them puts a smile on your face? If you truly want to look upon your spouse with favor, if you really want to find something about your mate to value, to appreciate, then you will.
Do the same with your children, your co-workers, your mother-in-law, or whoever else populates your life. Start fresh. Find that something wonderful, surprising or pleasing about the person and dwell on it. Let that aspect of the individual be what you focus on, what you pay most attention to.
Then there's your work, whether you're a full-time homemaker, part-time worker or career professional. Look at your work deliberately to find what fascinates you, what uplifts you, what it is about your work that puts a lift in your step. Maybe it's the work itself, the joy of doing something well. Maybe it's those you interact with at work that give you the most joy. Maybe it's the rewards you receive, from a happy child's, "Great sandwich, Mom!" to a grateful client's relief, to a paycheck, to stock options. Focus on whatever in your work brings you joy as you start fresh this New Year, and choose to back-burner the unpleasantness, difficulties and other bumps in the road.
The New Year gives us a wonderful opportunity to let go of the old and get on with the new. Sometimes the new isn't as much about things, as it is about attitudes. When you choose to view the people in your life for the value they bring to you, to their world and to others, for what you appreciate about them, you experience people differently and your life changes for the better. When you choose to look upon your work, your day to day, with that same desire to see the value in it, you experience your work differently, and your life changes for the better.
Choose, this New Year, to start fresh in every way--new habits, new attitude, new view on life, and revel in the joy that will inevitably come your way.
